Since our inception in 1973, LBYD has sought to offer the highest level of detail service and client satisfaction. Providing services such as Civil and Structural Engineering, Protective Design, and Specialty Engineering, clients can expect comprehensive knowledge and skill on a wide array of project types. LBYD Engineers has the resources and knowledge to provide innovative engineering solutions pulling from past experience with project types including small renovations to complex facilities.

LBYD Engineers has grown to a multi-discipline, multi-office engineering firm registered in 40 states and completing projects throughout the United States and Internationally.

Small Firm Responsiveness, Large Firm Expertise has become a staple across our company and is present in the work we do on a daily basis. Starting out as a small one person firm, we have provided engineering services for various clients including architects, engineers, contractors, commercial developers, public and private institutions, as well as local, state and federal governments.

Our History

LBYD was founded in 1973 with the incorporation of E. Glenn Bishop & Associates. Over the past years, LBYD Engineers has experienced phenomenal growth, and we currently have four office locations throughout the southeast. View more of LBYD’s important milestones in the timeline below.

Incorporation of E. Glenn Bishop & Associates

1978

Merger with Lane & Hodnett Structural Engineers to become Lane/Bishop/Hodnett

1987

Addition of Dale York and Jim Delahay to eventually become LBYD, Inc.

2001

LBYD began offering civil engineering services

2003

American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Alabama Engineering Excellence Grand Award for the design of Martin Dam Arch Replacement

2006

Inducted in the State of Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame
